I MUST

NOT TELL LIES. Ok, now that I mentioned what Harry Potter had burnt into his forearm, I should probably say what I myself must or must not do.

I must not drink distilled beverage.  Yes, that's correct. I must not do that under any circumstances. There are two main reasons for that.

First one is that I tend to feel utterly sick each time I consume this kind of drink. Of course, many people feel the same way, but I literally can't put myself together for the most of the following day. I can't eat, I can't drink and my stomach hurts as if it was burning. Awful feeling. I probably overdid it a few years ago, during Easter celebrations, when I drank, and I swear I'm telling a truth, forty-two shots of at least fifteen different brands. I was not able to return home on my own. Just the memory of it makes me feel sick again. I haven't been able to drink that much ever since.

Anyway, the second reason is that when I'm drinking hard liquor, there is a chance of me going on a rampage. Nothing matters then. You are polite to me ? That means you are trying to impose on me and you deserve to be beaten. You are impolite ? Same result. Standing in my way ? Same again. It's difficult to get on with me at those times. But the worst part is when I realise in the morning what I did the previous night. Such an embarrassment. It's even worse than the above-mentioned aching stomach. That's why I try to prevent these situations by not drinking hard liquor. Beer is enough for me and I will stick to that..

Lying

What should one say about it.. We all lie. No, don't think about it. We simply do. Be it nodding when we are not really listening, agreeing to a total nonsense just because we're not in the mood to think about it, or something we completely make up to cover things we don't want others to know. It's all the same - a lie.

What usually differs from person to person is the way they approach the lies. Someone can see right through your lies, someone cannot lie at all. Everyone is different. This approach is probably created by the way you are brought up and by the people affecting your life. I myself, for example, have been given an ability to lie at will, but also enough self-esteem so as not to never do that. All lies I say are to soothe, comfort or compliment, but hardly ever to cover the truth itself.

The movie I was watching in the morning was called "The Invention of Lying". Great a movie. I've seen it before, but I didn't really remember it. Now, I have to admit I was laughing hard several times. The whole idea of being a sole man in the world able to lie is ridiculous. A combination of a brilliant british accent and a witty humour really made my day. The only thing I didn't like was the //SPOILER ALERT// death of Mark's mom, even though I'm probably just way too empathic about this one.// All in all, I enjoyed the movie and the very last scene was just icing on a cake. I strongly recommend you to watch it too.

So what was the point of this ? Maybe I just lied. Or not. Of course not. Or did I ? No, no way I would lie just because I wanted to. You see guys, lie if you can comfort someone, if it helps. Lie to make people feel better. I will do the same.

Richard Bellison: [surprised by the homeowner during a burglary] What are you doing here? It's Monday at noon. You're not supposed to be home now!
Man at the Door: If you must know, I'm incredibly stressed at work, I've come home early, I'm having a bit of me-time. More importantly, what are you doing?
Richard Bellison: Well, I was gonna rob your house.
Man at the Door: I don't like that idea. Not a fan of that at all.
Richard Bellison: I'm not gonna do it now, because you're in.
Man at the Door: Do you know what's gonna happen? I'm gonna call the police, you're gonna be arrested.
Richard Bellison: Well, I'm just gonna leave, and you don't know my name.
Man at the Door: What is your name?
Richard Bellison: Richard Bellison.

Music

Ok, a topic for this week is more than clear. Amusing music. You see, I have to say that I can listen to almost anything, unless it sounds as if the singer was vomiting all over the microphone. And by anything, I really mean anything. Be it Hip-Hop, Dance, Trance, Electronic Music, Rock, Hard-Rock, Pop or Classical Music. I guess it sounds weird, but as long as I like it, I listen to it. It's as simple as that. Why should my liking for pop music prevent me from listening to Smetana's Vltava ? That's just not going to happen.

Anyway, having said that, from the list I wrote above I grew particularly fond of specific type of music during the last year, and that is the electronic music. I don't know why. It always has one of the two major impacts on me when I'm listening to it. I either start thinking or it makes my had completely empty, almost as if I was out of reality. Which is weird again, as these are complete opposites. What also always cheers me up is anything with a piano, an acoustic guitar, or a violin sound in it.

But most of the time, I listen to whatever I want to at the given moment. For the last two weeks, I've been listening to the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack all the time, especially when I'm commuting.

There is also one particular event I wish to attend in the future - Tomorrowland, giant electronic music festival annually held in Belgium. That's probably the best festival of this kind one can get to. It would be expensive I guess, but totally worth it.

That's it for today, enjoy the listening ;)

Change

So a topic for this week is "change". And what is more changing these days than the weather ? Maybe certain teacher's mood, but let's not talk about that.

Now to the weather itself.. I really love autumn, I do, but I just can't stand its unpredictability ! You wake up in the morning, look out of the window, check the weather and you can't say for certain whether it will be the same in the afternoon or not. So you have to make a decision.and you take either an anorak or a hoodie.

Now if you decide to take a hoodie, it will most likely rain, if you take an anorak, the sun will definitely shine. And that's the problem I'm talking about. You are never prepared enough for this kind of always-changing weather.

But what can one do about that ? Well, I always take my windcheater along, it's quite compact so I can put it into my backpack, and it pretty often literally saves my skin. But my opinion is that you can't always prevent being taken by surprise by this weather.

Now, there is one more thing I would like to mention.. Despite the things I stated above, autumn is probably the best season of the year. And the unpredictability is probably one of those things that make it so cool. Heavy rain or a mild breeze with leaves flying all around you ? You simply never know.

p.s. - the topic also made me change my wallpaper to something more corresponding with this season
